School Reopenings & Learning Loss — New “State Of The Bay” Radio Tonight At 6pm

My NPR radio show “City Visions” is now rebranded as State of the Bay on KALW, to reflect the show’s broader focus on the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re still live and local on Monday nights at 6pm, and the shows will regularly feature my co-hosts Joseph Pace and Grace Won, along with yours truly.

Tonight on State of the Bay, we’ll talk about the state of school reopening with San Francisco Chronicle education reporter Jill Tucker. We’ll also discuss the recent controversy over San Francisco Board of Education vice president Allison Collins’ social media tweets.

Then we’ll do a deep dive into pandemic learning loss and how it can be addressed with Heather Hough, executive director of Policy Analysis for California Education and Lakisha Young, co-founder and CEO of The Oakland Reach. We’ll end with Joseph Pace’s interview of Dr. Linda Shiue about her new cookbook, Spicebox Kitchen.

We also want to hear from you. What would you like to ask our guests? You can tweet us @StateofBay or send an email or voicemail to StateofBay@gmail.com.

Tune in tonight at 6pm PT on KALW 91.7 FM in San Francisco and streaming live on the web. Call 866-798-TALK to join the conversation!
